Blythe Hill Festival 2021 going ahead

We are pleased to announce that after careful consideration preparations are now in full swing for the 2021 Blythe Hill Fields Festival.

Instead of the usual July date, and as one of the adaptations we’re making to ensure the festival runs as safely as possible, this year’s festival will be held on Sunday 5th September.

The festival is a local community event, attracting about 4,000 people, with a great line-up of stalls, performers and musicians coming together for a brilliant day out. You can expect an eclectic mix of music on the main stage; family events on the woodland stage; huge varieties of stalls to browse and fabulous food and drink. Not to mention great activities at the funfair and in the kids’ tent!

All the profits from the festival go towards park improvements. Previous raised funds have helped install the new drinking fountain, playground equipment, a table tennis table, the trim trails, fox-proof bins, and our current project soon to come to fruition - new park signage.

In the run up to the festival we need your help. We are always looking for more volunteers, either in the organisational stages or for set up, during the festival and clear-up afterwards. Please email festival@blythehillfields.org.uk if you can spare some time for your community.

Stall Holders

Applications are now open! If you are a local business, craftsperson, maker or food provider, please get in touch. The Festival is attended by thousands of local residents just as keen on supporting local as we are! Email stalls@blythehillfields.org.uk for an application form and more details.

Supporters

If you are a local business who would like to get involved this year, please contact supporters@blythehillfields.org.uk - we would love to have you on board and we continue to champion local business. We have a list of available supporter options we would be happy to discuss.

Plant sale

Have you got any spare plants in your garden that you could pot up and donate to the Friends? Perhaps you’ve got house plants you could propagate? Now’s the time to think about what you could spare!

We’re going to have a small plant sale alongside our regular cake sale in this year’s festival. Please get in touch with Emma by emailing plants@blythehillfields.org.uk to let her know if you can help us out by donating plants or running the stall for a couple of hours on the day.

Here’s some ideas…

May/June is a good time to…

·      Split herbaceous perennials (such as Helenium or Sedums)

·      Split Primroses and Polyanthus

·      Pot up spare seedlings such as Foxgloves

·      Take cuttings of Fuchsia or Dahlias and pot them up

·      Sow biennial seeds such as Wallflower

·      Split Iris plants when they’ve finished flowering

We’d also just welcome anything spare that’s looking good in September and ready to go straight out in the garden.
